Uhm, article I read said it was a training accessory and the wife had fallen on the floor and needed help.
Audio input of information is many factors slower than reading can be. Better to try and fix a reading problem.

I count the lack of brick jokes and foreshadowing as a plus in any book. Also, it is a series of young adult books, you can't read too much into it. Rowling may be a shit person, but the books are the books.
