Did I read that right?

“Her eldest child came out as trans then non-binary”, so does she hate her own child?

She became vocal AFTER her own child came out? What a monster!

[–] incompetent@programming.dev 66 points 1 month ago

Yes.

Yes.

Yes.

I agree.

[–] arcterus@piefed.blahaj.zone 61 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Apparently she's one of those parents' rights psychos who think schools are indoctrinating their kids into becoming trans (or, more accurately, control freaks who feel that they're losing control of their children and then blame the easiest target).

[–] fluffykittycat@slrpnk.net 39 points 1 month ago

They're fucking child abusers

[–] Plurrbear@lemmy.world 18 points 1 month ago

Always pushing the blame on others but no one is to “blame”, there’s nothing wrong other than the “mom” being an absolute psychopath!

If I was in that room and she did that I would yell, “MY EYES! MY EYES! Put your damn clothes back on you nut job!” Haha! wtf!

[–] sundray@lemmus.org 13 points 1 month ago

Far too many assholes get radicalized when a relative comes out.

[–] Mk23simp@lemmy.blahaj.zone 121 points 1 month ago (2 children)

What even is her point? Is she afraid of AMAB people seeing girls undress because they might be attracted to them? Because, if so, I have news for her about lesbians.

The only way to fix that is to give everyone privacy. Which you probably should be doing anyways.

[–] SharkAttak@kbin.melroy.org 44 points 1 month ago

SHE is the bad news for lesbians.

[–] moopet@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 month ago

At this point I don't think she even owns a hinge.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 106 points 1 month ago (5 children)

She does have a point that it's weird we make teens change clothes, get naked, and shower as a group.

Like, it would be less weird if they did it as children. But waiting until some kids start going thru puberty and then making everyone strip together while an inevitably creepy gym teacher watches with too much interest....

The whole thing is fucking weird.

Like, why can't shower stalls include a changing stall?

Everyone's happy, and nobody's looking or being looked at

Seems like a ridiculously easy problem to solve.

[–] chaosCruiser@futurology.today 36 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

You know, some cultures are not ok with nudity like this. In those places, you give children the respect and privacy they deserve.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 27 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Y'all's showers had stalls?

[–] WhiteOakBayou@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Some of the high school showers I used were vertical pipes with shower heads pointing horizontally kind of spiraled up to the top. That way like 6 guys could share a shower area that would only be big enough for one guy. At my school we had normal (I guess) open showers with a showerhead and valve handle every 4 feet or so. With those verticle pipe ones just about the whole team could shower at once in the amount of space we used to shower 6 guys in our locker room. Very efficient?

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago (1 children)

And people ask why I never play sports

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago (3 children)

We had mandatory gym class in the 80s. Showering was also mandatory.

1980s 7th and 8th-grade showers were basically prison showers for us. Was terrified to have to get naked, but glad it happened.

Despite being a scrawny little fuck (still am), I learned I was packing heat vs. the popular preppies. Nothing to write home about, but I've never been insecure about my penis size.

Also got me over my fear of being seen naked. Now I don't give a fuck. (Part of the IDGAF is middle age.)

[–] fluffykittycat@slrpnk.net 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Private stalls for changing and showering should be mandatory and any student should have the eight to use them for any reason

[–] AA5B@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago

No, every student should use them. If they’re only optional, you still have the bullies together in a gang to pick on everyone else. You’re singling out people who choose privacy. You’re putting peer pressure on everyone who doesn’t conform.

[–] ZoDoneRightNow@kbin.earth 7 points 1 month ago (5 children)

Wait what!? Can someone else confirm that this happens over there? That sounds so fake. Surely you have stalls?

[–] danciestlobster@lemmy.zip 8 points 1 month ago

I can confirm I had no stalls through school

[–] moopet@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 month ago

This was the norm in the UK in the 1980s (my only point of reference as I haven't kept an interest). I can confirm most people didn't really have a problem with it but also that the teacher who supervised spent a few years in prison later on for reasons I can now see were totally related.

[–] Holytimes@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

No stalls. And if you refuses to strip naked and shower you got detention at my school.

The PE teacher was ALWAYS in the fucking locker room too.

The locker room and the shower room at my high school was also the same room. No partitions no privacy. The showers was just a row of shower heads on the far end of the single big square room.

[–] ZoDoneRightNow@kbin.earth 5 points 1 month ago

That's horrifying

I thought trans people usually wore clothes.

[–] Witchfire@lemmy.world 28 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I take off my skin suit every now and then when it itches

[–] primrosepathspeedrun@anarchist.nexus 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Those things must be awful.

Bathing suit underneath or not, what she did was extremely inappropriate and immediately defeats her point.

People like her tell you to think of the children, before setting the absolute worst example for them.

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 48 points 1 month ago

I'm not normally one to body shame, but her internal ugliness is showing

[–] Sauvandu60@lemmy.ml 44 points 1 month ago

What a weird thing to do.

[–] lectricleopard@lemmy.world 39 points 1 month ago (4 children)

Group showering is an institutional practice, providing for the health of the worker, with little consideration to his/her own desires or comfort. Jails/mines/factories have historically required showering to make sure they could keep working.

Schools are modeled after these institutions. The powerful people of this country see people as economic assets, and nothing else.

"When I can't immediately tell a child's gender, all I can think about is their genitals" - inner thoughts coming outside

[–] postmateDumbass@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago

If they can't visualize a child's genitals it angers them. Makes MAGA mad. Mad MAGA Smash! SMASH!

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 34 points 1 month ago (2 children)

? . . . okay, so had she continued she'd have been naked (presumably) and . . . ? what.

[–] kikutwo@lemmy.world 21 points 1 month ago

Several people would have vomited.

Hope she has a daughter who grows the biggest dick you've ever seen. Like Shrek sunbathing.

Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence in society.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 7 points 1 month ago

I can certainly influence people to cross the street when they see my naked ass walking toward them.

[–] MrSulu@lemmy.ml 21 points 1 month ago

The next strip shows are scheduled hourly for the following issues that cause her kids to be concerned: Black people (why are they even here), Obesity (curfew if we allow them), Disabled people, people who look Muslim, Jews, Gays (because dividing LGBTQ+ is easier). Tomorrows schedule will be published on her as later.

[–] postmateDumbass@lemmy.world 16 points 1 month ago

So its like that train video, where the old white lady was not comfortable with a black man existing in the next set of seats.

[–] KonalaKoala@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago

This seems like it should have turned into "Anti-LGBTQ+ activist gets escorted out of board meeting and sent to prison for indecent exposure - LGBTQ Nation"

[–] abbiistabbii@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 1 month ago

The fact that someone's mere existence makes you uncomfortable doesn't mean they don't deserve rights and liberties.

[–] cley_faye@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago

I'm also somewhat uncomfortable when some stranger disrobe in public, but hey.

[–] TheBat@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

Jesus Christ! It's ~~Jason~~ Beth Bourne!

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 month ago

Bourne became one of California’s most vocal anti-trans activists in the years since her eldest child came out first as trans and later as nonbinary.

Fuck, I feel for that kid.. Having a parent with mental illness is one thing and not easy, but can you imagine having to deal with this shit where your parent doesn't only attack you but also anyone like you, only because of how you are?

[–] pleaseletmein@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

When I was in school, you got changed in the stalls in the locker room and not out in the open. Does she not know how stalls work?

[–] bitchkat@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

We didn't have stalls for changing or showering. It was all done in the open.
