Rorschach and Tyler Durden are both personal heroes of mine.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 9 points 1 day ago

I identify more with The Narrator (Edward Norton) than Tyler. Ain't that right, Ty?

turns to face an empty seat

[–] FuyuhikoDate@feddit.org 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Phew... I can understand Tylor durdon... But Rorschach? He is a fuckin Hippocrate even if it was right what he did int he end.

chortles

No I mean standing up for his principles, instead accepting Ozys Plan

[–] abbotsbury@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

His principles were bullshit though, which is why even though he had the chance to completely unravel Ozymandias' plan, it will likely be completely ignored because he sent all his journals to a white nationalist tabloid rag.

[–] FuyuhikoDate@feddit.org 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Totally forgot about that fact.

But yeah that why i meant he is a Hippocrate, because he only think black and white and therefore always saw a lawful reason in all his actions.

Think i need to reread that comic. There is a lot I forgot and the first time i was already be like "damn I gonna need to read that again!"

[–] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I don't think he was an ancient Greek doctor

Ozymandias was an idiot. He pushed the world to the brink of nuclear war and then caused a massive explosion in New York under the assumption that the US government would calmly and methodically investigate the wreckage instead of just assuming that the war had already started and launching a counterattack. The only reason his plan worked was because he was a fictional character in a story who's author was as big of an idiot as he was.

[–] AppleTea@lemmy.zip 1 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago)

The idiot was Zack Snyder, not the actual author of Watchmen, Alan Moor.

In the comics, vv this vv is what Ozymandias manufactured to trick the world into peaceful deescalation. A supposed alien for all of humanity to unite against.

But that's too cartoony for Snyder, so he changed it to something more "realistic", ironically undermining the believability of the story.

[–] scutiger@lemmy.world 26 points 1 day ago

In the movie it was a nuclear explosion made to look like Dr Manhattan caused it. In the comic book, it was an alien invasion that brought humanity together.

The TV series follows the comic's premise and ignores the events of the movie.

He was a manipulative mass murderer, and his scheme couldn't last, but I respect a hot take.
