A new logo wasn't going to change the fact it's a racist restaurant chain so it's fine by me of they keep the old logo, not like the new logo was going to get me to break my twenty plus year steak of avoiding this place.

[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 7 points 2 hours ago

Good thing this "controversy" came along, I'd all but forgotten the place exists.

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 1 points 54 minutes ago

And everybody forgot about the Epstein files and we all lived happily ever after the end.

[–] butwhyishischinabook@lemmy.world 13 points 3 hours ago

Goddamnit stop teaching conservative snowflakes that their annoying, incessant whining works sometimes!

[–] selkiesidhe@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 hours ago

Whiny snowflakes got their way and now see that they can threaten more businesses to cater to their WEIRD ASS COMPLAINTS

[–] LettyWhiterock@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago (2 children)

Was this just conservatives? I never saw anyone say anything positive about the changes. Potential problems with some decor they might have, I don't think that reasonably translates to completely scrub it of all personality anyway.

[–] ragepaw@lemmy.ca 1 points 21 minutes ago

I'm far left and I thought it was dumb.

[–] xx3rawr@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 hour ago

It's perhaps universally hated but for some an unfathomable reason, a very common sentiment among conservatives is that the new logo is too damn woke.

[–] brax@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 hours ago

They should increase the cost of of all of their products to cover the increased cost to print their existing logo. There's no way the newer one wasn't cheaper lol

[–] tnarg42@lemmy.world 4 points 4 hours ago

This almost feels like a bet, or an experiment, by social media political manipulators. Like, one guy says to another, "I bet I can make Cracker Barrel change their logo back in less than two weeks using nothing more than a social media outage campaign." "Deal."

And then they do it, with some carefully planted posts across many platforms, and some well-placed calls to conservative commentators, calling attention to those posts. They successfully demonstrate their social media manipulating prowess, and ultimately sell their wares for the upcoming election cycle.

[–] dual_sport_dork@lemmy.world 11 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

I said it in the last thread and I'll say it again here: I do not give a single flying fuck about any political motivation behind the changing nor changing back of the Cracker Barrel logo, either real or simply perceived, but their new logo was objectively terrible. It was so bland and unmemorable that whoever designed it should have their Macbook confiscated and be catapulted into the ocean. That is, the both of them. But preferably one each into different oceans. I don't know how much that braindead rebrand cost them in consultancy fees but I hope they can ask for a refund.

[–] surewhynotlem@lemmy.world 13 points 5 hours ago

bland and unmemorable

This is why it was great. It perfectly encapsulated both their food and store. It was an ideal logo for them.

[–] Tempus_Fugit@midwest.social 8 points 6 hours ago

🤣 another win for conservatives. I don't know why I even care anymore.

[–] Corelli_III@midwest.social 21 points 8 hours ago

Republicans are sensitive snowflakes

[–] rekabis@lemmy.ca 5 points 8 hours ago

Awww… the new one was so much cleaner and nicer.

[–] Flax_vert@feddit.uk 6 points 10 hours ago

I mean... A broken clock is right twice a day and all that

[–] Presently42@lemmy.ca 5 points 11 hours ago (3 children)

What's the problem with the new logo?

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 7 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago) (1 children)

Wait, you mean you weren't boycotting and crying about the old logo and forcing the company to remove the image of the guy sitting by the barrel? I mean, I'm sure ONE of us leftists was outraged and screaming about it and forcing a good, hard-working American company to change its ways, if it wasn't you, then who could it have been??

Well whoever did it, I sure feel "owned" by the right over all this. They sure scored a victory over wokeness on this round 🙄

[–] Tempus_Fugit@midwest.social 5 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

TBF, I've been boycotting Cracker Barrel for decades. Not because of their positions or anything like that, but because the food is terrible. They're hands down one of the worst chains there is.

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 4 points 5 hours ago

Kind of like how my boycott of Target was a success, AND i got started much, much sooner than everyone else. (Because they're overpriced and their selection sucks.)

[–] CodingCarpenter@lemmy.ml 17 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Have you seen it? They took everything cracker barrels about out of the fucking sign. I'm not conservative by any means but even I think this is actually a win. The new sign was just sad

[–] Presently42@lemmy.ca 4 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

I'm Canadian, so I don't get this cultural reference either. I see in the new one a barrel, presumably full of crackers 🤷

Also, why would anyone store crackers in a barrel?

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 3 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Maybe they're storing hardtack? That would be on par with the blandness of their food.

[–] Tempus_Fugit@midwest.social 3 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

Clack, clack

[–] 6nk06@sh.itjust.works 12 points 10 hours ago

Bland? No need to change? Why the whole thing?

[–] popekingjoe@lemmy.world 140 points 21 hours ago (2 children)

I wish these people cared as much about the president being a pedophile as they do about this mid-ass restaurant changing its logo.

[–] LoafedBurrito@lemmy.world 21 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

They need these distractions, otherwise they start to actually think. Their leaders can't have that happening.

[–] FenrirIII@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

So it's a good thing CB is changing back

[–] Lukaro@piefed.zip 9 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

If it encourages them to eat there, is it really such a bad thing, I mean t a diet heavy in the types of food Cracker Barrel sells can't be good for you and republicans hate healthcare. Seems like it might be a self-solving problem.

[–] baggachipz@sh.itjust.works 11 points 13 hours ago

They hate healthcare until they need it. Then they have a sob story and create a GoFundMe.

[–] aesthelete@lemmy.world 3 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

❄️❄️❄️ brr, it's cold in here.

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 69 points 23 hours ago (2 children)

Step 1: Get a terrible rebranding done

Step 2: Wag the dog with fake/paid outrage

Step 3: Reverse the decision letting people think they’ve won

Step 4: Profit

It’s New Coke all over again.

[–] RymrgandsDaughter@lemmy.world 4 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

honestly I thought it was this too

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 2 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

The new logo is pretty terrible. I bet they paid a lot to some consulting company for it and when they saw how bad it was they wanted to at least try to get some benefit from it.

[–] RymrgandsDaughter@lemmy.world 2 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

It's literally simple. It's just boring not bad

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 3 points 7 hours ago

It’s just boring not bad

This has been the theme of every area of design since 2015. Cars, buildings, logos, websites, interior design; everything is not necessarily bad but really boring.

Its not even political at all. It was just dumb corporate blandness that defeats the purpose of the restsurant's image. Conservatives made it political because their CEO happens to be a woman.

[–] Revan343@lemmy.ca 4 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago)

I'm pretty sure conservative media made it political to rile up their base and distract from anything important; ditto the Sydney Sweeny fuckaround

Conservatives are calling this a win? Really???

Cracker Barrel: Changes logo.

Me: Didn't even know this happened months ago. Thats how little I care.

Conservatives: WE WILL FIGHT FOR A FICTIONAL OLD WHITE MAN'S RIGHT TO EXIST IN A LOGO!!!!

Me: Still doesn't give a shit.

Cracker Barrel: Changes logo back.

Me: Still doesn't give a shit.

Conservatives: WE WON!!!!

Me: STILL doesn't give a shit. You're the winner of a game that no one wants to play.

[–] sundray@lemmus.org 28 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

When you own all three branches of the government, have deported thousands of innocent, disenfranchised people, and you've got civil liberties and democracy on the ropes, but your whole shtick is grievance and vengeance, you get nonsense like this. They need more to things to get mad at to feed the monkey on their back.

[–] baggachipz@sh.itjust.works 5 points 13 hours ago

They will always find another bag of Rage Heroin somewhere. Fox can always manufacture more.
